Coat condition

My first priority is your pets comfort and welfare. In the event that your pets coat is matted I may have to shave the coat rather than put your pet through the painful de-matting procedure. When the coat is severely matted, there is a risk of clipper burn, cuts or abrasions to the skin due to warts, moles and skin folds trapped in the mats. All attempts will be made to prevent this, but in many cases of extreme matting this can be unavoidable. If your pet is matted, this takes longer to groom and therefore there will be an additional charge applied to the regular groom price. Regular grooming is usually every 6 - 8 weeks and this, combined with regular brushing, can prevent matting.

Aggressive Dogs

As an owner, you must advise the groomer if your pet bites, has bitten or is aggressive to people, other pets or due to specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. The wearing of a muzzle will not harm your pet and protects both the pet and the groomer. Tidy Tails reserves the right to stop services for such pets at any time during the grooming process and charge the full grooming fee.

Health

As grooming can be a stressful event for some pets. You must inform Tidy Tails if your pet has any heart conditions or stress related skin conditions prior to the groom. You should ensure that you pet is up to date with their vaccinations, flea and worming treatments prior to their visit to Tidy Tails. If your pet is found to have fleas whilst being groomed, there will be an additional £10 fee for a flea bath and to cover the cost of sanitizing the salon. Please note that parasites are a health hazard to your pet as well as to humans.

Accidents & Emergencies

Grooming equipment is sharp, even though I use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, cutting the quick of nails etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wriggling or moving around. Every effort will be made to ensure that your pet is groomed as safely as possible.

In the event of an emergency, I will seek professional veterinary attention and I will contact you immediately.

I would like to use photos of your pet on my Website and Facebook page where possible. Please let me know if you do not want this.
